Greening up gift wrapping

December 13, 2010

I’ve been collecting great wrapping ideas, and have so much to share with you.  I hope some of these will get your creative (and green) juices flowing.  Happy wrapping!

Have you heard of furoshiki?  It’s a beautiful Japanese style of folding cloth.
Here’s a video to show you how to wrap several different kinds of gifts.
There are also lots of instructional videos on youtube.  Just search “furoshiki” to check them out.

Would you look at this?  A gift wrapped in another gift!
Check out Country Living for an easy step-by-step tutorial to wrap you gifts using shirts.

Another Country Living idea with easy step-by-step directions.
Who knew wrapping a gift in recycled newsprint could be so pretty?

I am the worst wrapper in the world. Every year, it looks like Harryboy the cat wrapped all of the presents. I’m jealous!

I’ve been so impressed with Country Living’s gift wrapping ideas this year – never paid much attention to the magazine until now. It’s awesome that you are thinking of how to go green with your gifts this year – hope you have fun playing around with the wrapping!

I love the added flower on the newspaper wrap. I’ve been wrapping w/ the funnies portions of the paper for years, but I love the added flower!

Love the shirt idea. We usually use gift bags and reuse them all year long and every Christmas we swap bags from past years. We even fold up some of the tissue and reuse. But I like the shirt one because IT IS a double use- gift wrap and gift. So clever. Thanks for the round up of ideas I will look at them all. I also like to use brown lunch bags to wraps gifts with as well. Have a great week!
