Watoto Children’s Choir
I had the most wonderful opportunity last night to see the Watoto Children’s Choir perform. They are a group of 17 children and their adult chaperones who have traveled from Uganda, Africa. If you have never heard of this organization, please, please, please go to their website and learn more about them.
The AIDS crisis in Africa has orphaned millions of children. One man witnessed this crisis and was moved to take action. To do something. To help. To rescue. Read the story here of how Gary and Marilyn Skinner stepped in and stepped up.
The Watoto Children’s Choir has been touring since 1994. They perform throughout the world to bring attention to the plight in their country, but also to celebrate hope. Their concert is the most energetic, joyful performance you will ever see. Knowing that every child on that stage has lost one or both parent to AIDS, and has endured tragedies that I cannot even begin to imagine, made the evening extraordinary.
My family was blessed today to be able to spend the afternoon with two of the boys from the choir. How beautiful to see them laughing and playing with my kids. It has just been an amazing experience.
