What do you know about your cup of coffee?

January 29, 2009

In every cup of coffee we consume, major world issues like poverty, survival, pollution, indigenous rights, and globalization are going right along with it.   A friend recommended that I read Javatrekker by Dean Cycon, and if you’re interested in reading a book that’s a bit travelogue, a bit adventure, and more eye-opening than your morning coffee, then this book is it.  You’re also going to want to take a look at Dean’s Beans or your local grocery stores for Fair Trade coffees from now on.  They cost about the same as your usual brand, but the impact you can make will be priceless.  After reading the stories and meeting the people in Cycon’s book, you will walk away with a genuine appreciation for what it takes to provide you with that morning cup of coffee.
