Catching up

So let me tell you about our week.  We left Monday for a quick trip to the beach.  For the past 10 years, my sisters and I have taken our families to the Jersey shore every summer.  Yes, I said the Jersey shore.  Some folks around here would sneer at that, but we really have strong feelings for the town of Ocean City, NJ.  It is the loveliest, most family-friendly beach town ever.  Plus, they have the best boardwalk pizza at Mack & Manco’s …  Santa Claus shows up on family night at the boardwalk and I can’t even touch how perfectly wonderful he is … there is a great beach and boardwalk … all 8 of our kids are together … we participate in the sand sculpting contest  (just a side note – we were so cheated this year) … surry rides … ice cream … boardwalk shopping … picnic breakfasts and lunches on the beach … and Wawa chocolate mint iced coffee.   (We don’t have Wawa stores where I live, so that’s always a treat for me.)

Back to the sand sculpting contest.  We thought our sand snowman was awesome.  How cute is he?  Floating in his big old innertube with his seashell and seaweed face and his seashell buttons?  Apparently, we were a little too sure of ourselves because we didn’t win a thing.  Oh well.  I’m trying not to be bitter.  We’ll be back next year!

YES!! It is driving me nuts.
You have to click twice to get past the promotion!

Ive been looking at Foodgawker and Photograzing, normally the same stuff but no Patron promotion to look at!

I don’t visit it much to be honest. Nor do I submit photos….perhaps I’m bitter? ;)

Sounds like a great time! We’re a close knit family but you guys have us beat. Love all the “friendly” competitions. Maybe the reason my family never does any is because they would not be so friendly? We were banned (young) from playing games with each other by our Dad. This included our Mom. As usual I’ve gone on and on! Good to have you back!

Oh My Word!!!! Mack and Manco’s haven’t heard that in ages! I grew up on the Jersey shore and loved OC. Margate was esp. quaint with all those retro type beach homes. I wonder if they are all still there? Loved the board walk there in OC! We had a house in Mystic Island across the Great Bay from AC. Back then it was an old retirement village with small square homes and lots on lagoons, famous for the giant German Radio towers of WWII. Great memories there. Even went to Resorts on the first weekend it opended back before all the Casinos came to AC. Loved LBI too. Thanks for the memory jolt!

Our family loves OC too. We are going for a week in late summer and look forward to Mack & Manco’s.

@Robinsue…Margate is home to Lucy, correct? The retro has been replaced with many McMansions :o(

There is a “No Thanks” button on the bottom right of the add page to go straight to the recipe. It’s annoying…

When Tastespotting does that, and points you to the Tequila ad, merely click “no thanks”, and then it will take you to the recipe which you want!

I quit favoriting because I’m trying to use my cookbooks – I have so many and Taste is too tempting. I’m just trying to figure out how to please the photo approving God’s right now – it’s always hit or miss! with misses out weighing the hits! Boo Hiss!
